Description
This is a public synopsis of a forthcoming solicitation in accordance with FAR 36.213-2. This is NOT a solicitation, and NO solicitation documents are currently publically available. Description of Proposed work: Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to perform construction for Project 598-13-109, Improve Dialysis Functional Deficiencies 5D at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in accordance with project plans and specifications. The contractor shall understand that this project is at an actively working VA medical Center, careful scheduling and coordination of work is required so as to have minimal impact on the day to day operations of the hospital. In general, the scope includes all architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection work to complete the following under NAICS code 236220: Demolition -The existing service entrance copper and fiber optic cables in the Main Telecommunications room shall remain and be protected. -The existing fiber optic patch panels serving the space shall remain in the Telecommunications room and be protected. -All Communications backbone cabling serving Telecommunications Room from Main Telecommunications room shall remain and be protected. -All Nurse Call System Equipment shall remain and be protected. Contractor shall field verify if the existing equipment is sufficient to be re-used with the new system. -All Public Address Equipment shall remain and be protected. Contractor shall field verify if the existing equipment is sufficient to be re-used with the new system. -All Existing Conduit, Cabling, Devices, Cable Trays, and Raceways shall be demolished back to the existing Telecommunications & Signal Equipment Rooms. -All Existing Conduit installed below floor shall be abandoned in place. New Construction -New 110 Blocks will be mounted on existing backboard within Existing Telecommunications Room. The contractor shall protect the existing Voice cabling coming from the demarcation room for reuse. -Data/Voice communications outlets shall contain a minimum of (3) RJ-45 Cat 6 rated jacks and cables. Typically, two, four port outlets will be located in Exam rooms, Offices, Conference Rooms, and general workspaces. One 1" conduit shall be routed from each outlet to a cable tray, which in turn serves the existing Communications room. All cable shall be 4 pair 24 AWG copper Cat 6 rated. Modular RJ45 patch panels shall be utilized for cable terminations. The sum of the horizontal and the vertical distance from any outlet to the communications room shall not exceed 295 feet. -Telecommunications system grounding shall comply with the NEC and J/STND-607, Grounding and Bonding Requirements for Telecommunications: Contractor shall field verify the existing communications bus bar in the Existing Telecommunications room has adequate capacity for newly installed equipment. Grounding to building structure, conduits, utility piping, or electrical subpanels in lieu of bonding to building main electrical service ground shall not be acceptable. -A system of cable basket trays above ceiling shall be provided to serve all phones, VA communications cabling, non-VA contractor communications, automation communications, and CATV Cabling. Cabling divider strips shall be installed within cable basket tray to separate each of the designated communications media. -A P/A system shall be provided consisting of speakers, amplifiers, and cabling. Any new devices shall be tied into the Existing P/A system. The coverage area the P/A system shall be restricted to corridors only. -A cable television system will be provided from each outlet to a TV splitter in the Existing Telecommunications room. The system shall consist of outlets in all areas as located in the project program and as generally required. TV outlets shall be mounted at 7'-6", unless noted otherwise. The cable distribution system will consist of RG-6 coaxial cables, and terminated at the outlet with an F-type connector. -A Nurse Call system shall be provided consisting of Patient Stations, Emergency Stations, Isolation Stations, Dome Lights, Nurse Call master stations, Staff Stations, Duty Stations, and Code Blue systems. Any new devices shall be tied into the Existing Facility Nurse Call System. Any new devices installed shall be compatible with the existing West-call Novus system to remain in the Sig Equip rm. Devices shall be mounted as indicated on the drawings. Successful bidder shall hold or obtain any and all necessary licenses or permits required to perform this work in the State of Arkansas. Estimated Price Range: Between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. Location of the work: John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock AR 72205-5484. Tentative dates: ***All dates are estimates. Actual dates will be listed in the Invitation for Bid. *** Issuance of invitation: on or about February 12, 2015 Organized Site Visit/ Walk Through: on or about February 19, 2015 Bid Opening: on or about March 12, 2015 Contract Period of Performance: 270 calendar days after issuance of notice to proceed Plans, drawings, and specifications as applicable will be made available electronically via FedBizOpps at the time the invitation to bid is posted. Award is restricted 100% for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Bidders must be registered and certified online with http://www.vip.vetbiz.gov and must be registered at http://www.sam.gov in accordance with 38 CFR Part 74 and VAAR 819.70 to be eligible for award.
