- Homme Dam Gauge Reader Contract 1. Duties consist of taking two weekly gauge readings on Monday and Friday, performing gate openings on Monday and Friday when needed, taking the north and south traffic counter readings on Mondays and making precipitation observations. The Gauge Reader will call the same readings to the ND Section Supervisor at the Lake Ashtabula Project Office by 0830 hrs on Mondays and Fridays. Gate openings and changes will be directed by Water Management through the ND Section Supervisor. Minor maintenance and cleaning services will be performed to the gauge house and gauge equipment, including the installation and upkeep of heat lamps and frost floor before October 31. 2.Additional readings may be required anytime 1.5 inches of precipitation is recorded in a 24-hour period or when directed by the ND Section Supervisor. If 1.5 inches of precipitation is recorded the ND Section Supervisor will be contacted immediately. Additional gate openings may be required on other days of the week other than Monday or Friday. Also, from time to time there is a need to have the gauge reader go out to the maintenance building to open it and supervise disbursement of flood supplies or flood pumps. Additional gauge readings/ gate openings or disbursement of flood supplies/pumps will be paid per instance. 3.Duties shall also include reading piezometers and assisting St. Paul District Geologists with minor maintenance with the automated piezometer system when needed. There are 10 peizometers that are all automated and are not required to be read manually unless there was an emergency situation in which case the Gauge Reader would be contacted by either the St. Paul District Geology Section or the ND Section Supervisor. The piezometer reading duty is paid per instance. 4.All problems, issues and unusual observations dealing with associated dam equipment and facilities shall be reported promptly to the ND Section Supervisor. 5.Security - The Corps of Engineers will issue a key to the contractor for the shop building located on the north side of the dam. The contractor will sign a key log and will not make copies of the key. a.Background check. Contractor shall submit all required documentation (copy of valid driver's license, State/Federal/Government ID) for background checks prior to receipt of keys. 6.Contractor shall comply with the Corps of Engineers Dam Safety Program. 7.All equipment and supplies shall be provided by the Corps of Engineers. 8.Request for payment will be submitted to the Lake Ashtabula Project Office, 2630-114th Ave SE, Valley City, ND 58072.
