- SOURCES SOUGHT/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION M/V PUGET CRANE REPLACEMENT This is a Sources Sought/Request for Information Notice (SS/RFI) for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. This IS NOT a REQUEST for PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, or BIDS. Responses to this request will not be returned. Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation. It is the intent of the Contracting Office to use this information for market research purposes only. The survey is being conducted to determine the interest of industry within NAICS code #333120 and establish that there are adequate Large and/or Small Business (HUBZONE 8(a) or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business) contractors for the following crane replacement, which includes engineering and design support. The Government WILL NOT pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of any such information. If a formal solicitation is released, it will be via the Federal Business Opportunities (http:www.fbo.gov). The Seattle District of the Corps of Engineers operates the snag boat M/V PUGET, equipped with a LINKBELT HC-218 lattice boom crane. The Government is issuing this SS/RFI to identify the resources available to disassemble, remove, and dispose of the installed crane; determine appropriate type/model replacement hydraulic material handler/log loader; acquire/install new crane; provide Naval Architectural Analysis; develop/provide floating service load chart for new crane. It is the Government's intent to have this work performed at the contractor's facility and/or commercial shipyard within the Puget Sound area of Washington. The Government does not own or have rights to the crane design or drawings. Any interested parties would be required to coordinate with the manufacturer. 1) General Characteristics of the M/V PUGET crane: The current crane is a LINKBELT crane model HC-218, serial #18HA369. The crane has been de-rated to 20tons to satisfy the 46CFR173 Lifting Stability requirements in partially protected waters. Boom Length is 70 foot. 2) Desired characteristics of replacement crane: Hydraulic material handler/log loader. Approx 70 foot reach. Minimum 20 ton capacity for floating service. Marine environment package. 360 degree rotation for attachments. Hydraulic orange peel grab, clamshell bucket, and lifting hook attachments. Automatic lubrication system. Load moment indicator. Replacement crane and installation must comply with EM 385-1-1, sections 16 and 19.
