- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District is seeking System for Award Management (SAM) Database registered small businesses that can provide the following construction service for the DES MOINES RIVER, DES MOINES AND RACCOON RIVERS PROJECT, POLK COUNTY, IA, DOWNTOWN CLOSURES IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT. The North American Industry Classification Standard (NAICS) Code is 237990 with a corresponding size standard of $33.5 million. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or award a contract. NO AWARD will be made from this Sources Sought Notice. This is NOT a request for proposal or quote or an invitation for bid. Particularly, the purpose of this NOTICE is to gain knowledge of potential System for Award Management (SAM) Database registered businesses. The Downtown Closures project is located in and adjacent to the City of Des Moines downtown area along the Des Moines River in Polk County, Iowa. The City of Des Moines (City) is the non-Federal sponsor. The Downtown Closures project will provide improvements to the existing Federal flood protection system at six existing closure locations (roadways, railroad, and amphitheater). At each location, the existing closures which are now temporary/earthen plug closures will be improved with width reductions, revised tie-ins, and/or swing gate/stoplog closures. The work for the flood protection system improvements includes, but is not limited to: demolition, urban and railroad traffic control, floodwall construction, sidewalk construction, stop logs, sidewalk swing gate, railroad swing gate, sheet piling, H-piles, aggregate road raise, earthwork, fencing, utility protection and relocations, and seeding.
