Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Sources Sought Notice - Histology Lab Supplies This is a Sources Sought notice and not a request for quotes. This request is solely for the purpose of conducting market research to enhance VHA's understanding of your company's offered services and capabilities. The Government will not pay any costs for responses submitted in response to this Sources Sought. This Sources Sought notice provides an opportunity for respondents to submit their notice of ability, and their available products in response to the requirement described below. Vendors are being invited to submit information relative to their potential of fulfilling the requirement below, in the form of a capability response that addresses the specific requirement identified in this Sources Sought. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is seeking a vendor to provide the following (2) products below, brand name or equal in specifications. Please see the General Requirements section below for the requested products and descriptions. This Sources Sought is to facilitate the Contracting Officer's review of the market base, for acquisition planning, size determination, and procurement strategy. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS - BRAND NAME OR EQUAL CLIN 0001 - PART #: 3801320 - EM-400 - LEICA EMBEDDING MEDIUM 10-2LB BAGS EM-400 Embedding Medium is a blend of purified paraffin with synthetic polymers that enables sectioning with minimal compression. The medium can facilitate routine sectioning at 1-2 microns on a rotary microtome. Its low melting point (56-57 º C, water bath temperature 37-42 º C) reduces potential artifactual distortion in tissues heated above 60 º during paraffin impregnation. EM-400 will remain stable even at elevated temperatures. It is available in a case of 10 x 2 lb (0.91 kg) lightweight bags to facilitate handling. Manufactured and trademark of Leica Biosystems. CLIN 0002 - PART #: 39602004 - LEICA PARAPLAST PLUS, 8 x 1kg/cs Paraplast is recommended for general tissue embedding. It is composed of a refined mixture of highly purified paraffin containing plastic polymers of regulated molecular weights. This provides improved tissue infiltration and superior quality sections with minimal compression. Paraplast gives brittle, difficult-to-section tissue an innate elasticity, producing excellent, wrinkle-free sections. Paraplast Plus is suggested for large tissue or tissue that may normally present infiltration issues. Manufactured and trademark of Leica Biosystems.
