Description
Under the Ripple HAPTIX contract, leveraging currently available Ripple technologies, the company will provide three systems for motor decode and restoration of natural sensation to HAPTIX performers: (1) the Grapevine NOMAD Neural Interface; (2) the Myoelectric Implantable Recording Array (MIRA), a 32-channel implantable EMG recording system; and (3) the Stimulating And Recording Array (SARA), an advanced 64-channel implant with both recording and stimulation capabilities. Additionally, Ripple, will work with the University of Colorado to integrate motor activity decoding into these systems, collaborate with DARPA-specified performers and partners for MIRA and SARA feasibility testing, and support preparation of regulatory documentation and clinical trials. A fixed price contract was not issued due to the absence of precise specifications and difficulties with estimating costs with accuracy, and under these circumstances, FAR 35.006 indicates the use of a cost-type contract is appropriate. Additionally, the contractor's accounting system is adequate for a cost-type contract.
