Description
THIS IS A SPECIAL NOTICE OF AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INDUSTRY TO VIEW THE SITE OF PROPOSED WORK. NO AWARD WILL BE MADE FROM THIS INITIAL NOTICE. NO SOLICITATION, PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT, OR DRAWINGS ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP). NO SOCIO-ECONOMIC SET ASIDE DETERMINATION HAS BEEN MADE AND NO ACQUISITION APPROACH HAS BEEN FINALIZED. Portland District USACE is planning a future extended navigation lock outage to perform various upgrades at The Dalles Navigation Lock. The work is planned to consist of replacing the upstream gate, replacing the gudgeons (upper hinge and anchor) for the downstream gate, and upgrading the controls. The exact dates of the extended navigation lock outage have not been set, but it is anticipated to be December 2016 to March 2017. The construction contract is scheduled to be advertised in Fall/Winter 2015. During the routine navigation lock outage in March 2015, the upstream gate will be dewatered. This will be the last opportunity to view this area in a dewatered state prior to advertising this construction contract. The purpose of this special notice is to provide prospective contractors an opportunity to view the upstream gate in a dewatered state. While the upstream gate is dewatered, viewing will take place from the deck, about 20-30 feet above the bottom of the gate, no access will be provided into the dewatered lock. THIS SITE VISIT IS SCHEDULED FOR 10:00, 17 MARCH 2015. YOU MUST RSVP NAME, COMPANY NAME, AND PHONE NUMBER TO JEFFREY S. RENNER, CONTRACT SPECIALIST, JEFF.S.RENNER@USACE.ARMY.MIL OR (503) 808-4630, BY 17:00 15 MARCH 2015. THOSE WHO RSVP MUST BRING VALID ID AND ARRIVE AT THE OREGON GATE (EXIT 88 OFF I-84) AT 10:00 FOR ESCORT TO THE NAVIGATION LOCK. YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN TO ATTEND THE SITE WALK. Interested Small Businesses are encouraged to contact the Portland District Deputy for Small Business, Carol McIntyre, at (503) 808-4602. Carol is an outstanding resource concerning this and all opportunities to do business with Portland District.
