Description
The work consists of furnishing all equipment, labor, and materials to rehabilitate Hume Lake Dam. Hume Lake Dam is on Ten Mile Creek, on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada in Fresno County, California. The dam is a multiple-arch dam with 12 arches. The dam is 50.4 feet tall (crest elevation 5299 feet above sea level) and 675 feet long. The original dam construction was completed in 1908. Work Items include the following: 1. Site preparation for membrane installation, including coffer dam construction, water diversion, and excavation to expose dam toe. 2. Furnish and install a geocomposite membrane system with drain on the upstream face of the dam. 3. Evaluate the integrity of the outlet works of the dam, including the intake structure, internal conduit, and valve seals. The work includes Optional Bid Items as follows: 1. Grout bedrock foundation cracks in bays 4 and 5 upstream of the dam toe, and bays 1, 2, and 3 as well depending on site conditions. 2. Replace the intake assembly of the outlet works of the dam, and repair the interior surface lining of the outlet works conduit, depending on the results of the evaluation of integrity. 3. Furnish and install erosion protection mats in bay 4 downstream of the dam toe. 4. Design and install a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to allow the control and adjustment of the outlet valves from remote locations, with some or all of the following components. The complete SCADA system includes a remote reservoir level monitoring system with solar array, a solar powered webcam with satellite link, and remotely accessed valve controls on the three valves in the outlet works. 5. Demolish and replace the generator and controls building and fencing with a new precast concrete building and fencing to house the generator and controls for the outlet works and SCADA system.
