- Description
- This contract provides for fuels reduction/modification, fuels removal, and related work for approximately 100 acres to be performed in compliance to the contract terms, specifications and provisions. The Contractor shall furnish labor; equipment; supervision; transportation (including but not limited to mobilization); operating supplies and incidentals (including but not limited to all water and all Sporax® necessary for contract operations). Live trees shall be thinned, live and dead brush shall be cut from around residual trees, residual trees shall be pruned. Brush canopy will be reduced. Standing dead or dying trees (Snags) will be cut, limbed, and bucked up. Downed and dead trees will be limbed and bucked up. All brush and trees will be primarily cut and bucked by means of Chain saws or mechanical equipment such as tractor, masticator, or chipper as long as terrain is on slopes 35% or less, and on short steep pitches up to 50%. All fuels treated within the project site will be either chipped, masticated, or bucked on-site and scattered within the project area. Surface ground disturbance will be minimal for soil stabilization; grass and small shrubs will be left in place with a stump height of 2 inches from ground level. Bio mass left in place for soil stabilization will be at depths of 4 inches or less. Within riparian areas (RCA'S), there may be removal of dead material but no live material will be disturbed. Willows and other riparian (streamside) vegetation shall not be thinned or pruned, unless, required for safe operations and approved by the Contracting Officer. Within Riparian Conservation Areas (RCA's), all slash greater than 3 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length shall be chipped. All slash within the other Control Areas greater than 3 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length shall be removed from the Control Area and chipped. Contractor's operations shall not unnecessarily damage retained trees. All activities, related to this project, adjacent to or alone Roads will be signed and controlled to alert the public of potential hazards. Location: The project is located north of the Chilao area. The legal description is Township 3 North, Range 11 West, Sections 10,11,14, and 15 of the "Chilao Flat" USGS 7.5 minute topographic quadrangle. See attached Project Map, Attachment E. Estimated start work date will be on or around May 11, 2015. Contract time is 365 calendar days. Issue date for the solicitation will be approximately March 27, 2015 with a closing date of approximately April 28, 2015. This project is 100% set aside for small business.
