- Description
- The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)/Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)/ Wild Life Services (WS) in Fort Scott, KS intends to award a sole source, Purchase Order t to W-W Manufacturing of Thomas, OK. The vendor will provide 1ea Boar Buster Trap #8352-000-000.The boar buster trap is a new style of feral swine trap that has just recently been developed This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 The property or services needed are available from only one responsible qualified source at this time and no other type of property or services will satisfy these needs. To our knowledge, the vendor is the sole manufacturer of this type of trap. The BoarBuster trap is about 18 feet in diameter and capable of capturing more than 30 feral hogs per drop. According to the W-W Manufacturing web page; the trap is easy to transport and set up. The rigid trap enclosure is operationally elevated above a trap site which allows feral hogs to freely enter and exit the trapping area. This reduces trap shyness, an inherent condition where intelligent animals learn what a trap does and how to avoid it. As a critical part of this system, BoarBuster relies upon a newly developed camera system created by Tactical Electronics (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma). Unlike other trail cameras, this camera system offers the ability to deliver real-time video of the trap site, providing the viewer a broad view of the trap and any animal activity around the site. The video is optimized for day or night viewing. When the system detects motion around the trap site, it sends an activity alert to the user via a smartphone and Web-based app. Users can then log onto the BoarBuster system and view the activity occurring at the trap site. Watching the live video eliminates accidently trapping any unwanted animals. Users can remotely activate the trap while watching the video whenever a desired number of hogs have entered the trap. For more information please visit: www.BoarBuster.com The Kansas Wildlife Services program, works with the Kansas Department of Agriculture and is responsible for feral swine management throughout the state. Kansas Wildlife Services has tested one of the traps and found it to be very effective. The trap will be used year around and mostly in Bourbon County Kansas This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation documents are available and telephone requests will not be honored. However, if a firm believes it can meet the requirements it must furnish information about its products and services, as well as three (3) references from other customers who are using these services, to the Contracting Officer by 4:00pm.
