These items are used on various US Coast Guard vessels. Substitute part numbers are NOT acceptable. PRESERVATION, PACKING, & MARKING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS PACKAGING INSTRUCTIONS SET FORTH IN IAW ASTM-D-3951 AND SP-PP&M-001. In addition to the packaging and labeling requirements of SP-PP&M-001, each individual Fan shall be sealed in a vapor barrier which contains sufficient dessicent to prevent moisture build up and corrosion of the Fan for the a minimum period of two years of indoor storage. Each individual sealed Fan shall be packaged in a wooden shipping container/crate that consists of a solid wood frame with the plywood floor, sides and top. The top shall be secured to the crate with corrosion resistant #2 phillips head screws, making it readily removable using only a #2 phillips head screwdriver. The Fan shall be secured within the crate by means that prevent it from shifting within the crate and being damaged by shock and vibration during multiple shipments via commercial and military transport.
