- Description
- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to negotiate and award a non-competitive contract with the University of Wisconsin, Research and Sponsored Programs located at 21 N. Park Street, Suite 6401, Madison, WI 53715 -1218 under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. The University of Wisconsin will provide the NRC with technical assistance in the area of beyond design basis and other emerging severe accident issues. Specifically, the contractor shall (1) perform analysis of core-concrete interaction (CCI) experiments in order to make recommendations for code assessment and model development as necessary, (2) and perform parametric and sensitivity analyses of KROTOS and TROI experiments using the TEXAS-V code in order to provide further fidelity to the code (in particular, with regard to melt solidification modeling) for use in plant safety analysis; to solicit expert technical assistance in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's ongoing effort in knowledge transfer and management related to relevant severe accident issues. The University of Wisconsin is the developer of the TEXAS-V code for fuel-coolant interaction analysis which is needed for the analysis of the KROTOS and TROI experiments. The code was developed for use under NRC contract number NRC-HQ-60-14-C-0002. As such the University of Wisconsin possesses unique expertise and qualifications needed for the successful performance of the follow-on contract. The Period of Performance for the follow on contract shall be from April 17, 2015 to April 16, 2016. Vendors that have the capability to perform the services discussed above shall submit their technical capabilities to Jerry Purcell, Jr., Contract Specialist at: Jerry.Purcell@nrc.gov no later than March 27, 2015. This notice is not to be considered a request for quotations, or a request for proposals. The information received will be used as market research.
