Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY AND NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR QUOTES. NO PRICING SUBMITTED WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR USE WHEN/IF A SOLICATION SHALL COME OUT OF THIS NOTICE. The intention of this notice is to seek sources that could potentially provide these services. Firms with interest and capability to respond to this requirement should develop short narrative capability statements including relevant experience and other information indicating and evidencing capability to successfully meet the aforementioned requirements. For questions regarding these services required for this requirement and to submit capability statements please contact keith.costantino@va.gov. The VA requires a MR compatible Transcranial Magnetic Simulator (TMS) that allows in-bore stimulation for research needs to incorporate simultaneous TMS-fMRI acquisition using both paired pulse and repetitive TMS stimulation. VA has collected data on single, paired and repetitive pulse TMS using MagVenture stimulators. As such, our acquisition parameters for stimulation are specific to the X100 and R30 series of stimulators produced by MagVenture. The protocols are designed and interfaced with the X100 control system and accompanying software. VA requires the procurement of a new fMRI-TMS data to be compatible with our existing systems to be used to replicate the data acquisition environment we have used to understand how aging affects cortical activity. The stimulator shall be able to be used during MRI acquisition using repetitive pulses and a short interleave time consistent with existing TMS protocols. In terms of specifics, VA requires a stimulator and coil with an output capacity of up to 2Tesla that is capable of repetitive trains of pulses up to 100 pulses per second. Additionally, the stimulator will require interface with control software that will allow VA to titrate the administration of pulses consistent with the participant's cortical excitability profile that we assay outside of the scanner. VA's TMS requirements include integrated electromyography (EMG) evaluation. This is important for our research because it allows us to immediately evaluate the strength of motor response after cortical stimulation using the MRI compatible TMS system. The TMS shall have the ability for immediate stimulation to response profiles to accurately parametrize the neurotransmitter output after varied stimulation intensities.
