- The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests in Columbia, SC is performing market research to determine the number and types of sources available who can perform the work described below. This Sources Sought is for market research purposes only and does not obligate the US Forest Service in any manner. Project Scope : The Service required is to propose effective strategies to develop and conduct a recreation use and social impact monitoring program and associated data collection using a number of methods in the Upper Chattooga Wild & Scenic River corridor, as well as assess monitoring findings to determine if use exceeds capacities or conditions exceed standards. Project Location : The work required will be on three National Forests; Sumter National Forest - Andrew Pickens Ranger District. The Andrew Pickens Ranger District (AP) is located in Oconee County in South Carolina on more than 85,000 acres. It is located in the mountainous western edge of the Sumter National Forest, with elevations ranging from 800 to 3,400 feet. One of its crown jewels is the Chattooga National Wild and Scenic River, a popular whitewater and angling destination that traverses three states (NC, SC, and GA). Chattahoochee National Forest - Chattooga River Ranger District. The Chattooga River District (CR) is located in the northeast part of Georgia covering 261,035 acres. Terrain ranges from the Piedmont in the southern part of the district to Georgia's second highest mountain, Rabun Bald at 4,696 feet above sea level. To the east is the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River. Nantahala National Forest - Nantahala Ranger District : The Nantahala National Forest consists of three ranger districts (Cheoah, Tusquitee, and Nantahala) that comprise of 531,148 acres. It lies in the mountain and valleys of southwestern North Carolina. Companies that are interested in this project are requested to email a detailed report describing their abilities to markjmiller@fs.fed.us no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response should include experience in doing similar projects and references for the projects listed, and any other information relevant to your capabilities. The US Forest Service is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code 541990 for this effort as those domestic sources having gross receipts of $15.0 M or less.
