Description
Amendment Two Amendment No. Two is hereby issued to Solicitation No. 15-247-SOL-00045 for the following: 1. Option 1) Contractor will perform a complete roof survey and note any broken tile outside the boundaries of this project. Contractor will replace broken tile on a unit cost basis, tile salvaged from the main project may not be used as replacement tile. Survey. tiny_mce_marker________________ Replacement Tile tiny_mce_marker___________ ea. 2.Provide Pre-Proposal Inquiries (PPI), 12 March 2015, as follows: PPI-012: Specification Section C-18 WARRANTIES requires a 10 year Roofing material and workmanship warranty. As the tiles are approximately 84 years old there can be no material warranty, the original tile manufacturer will not issue an extended warranty, the underlayment manufacturer will not issue a warranty, and most roofing contractors will provide a 2 year workmanship warranty in accordance with Arizona construction codes and statutes. At most our bonding company would allow a 5 year workmanship warranty but that would exclude any issues related to material failures. Please clarify how we should proceed. ANSWER: 5 year warranty will be sufficient PPI-013: The original tile roof has been installed with a vertical 2x nailer located under every run of tile covers/tops between the rows of pan tiles from eave to ridge. These will need to be removed to inspect the underlying decking and remove any underlayment. Do new nailers need to be installed to replace the existing or are alternate installation methods acceptable? ANSWER: Nailer must be installed to replace existing tile. Existing tile is not interlocking. (See Attachment E) PPI-014: Will lead flashings be allowed for vent pipes and stack penetrations that exist through the existing tile roof assembly? ANSWER: yes PPI-015: Mention was made of additional repairs to broken tile on the other buildings. Please confirm that this will done as a change order and is not to be bid as part of our base bid. ANSWER: This will come in the form of an amendment to the solicitation if approved by Administration. PPI-016: It was mentioned at the site walk that there did not appear to be any underlayment over the wood decking. A quick visual inspection of a section of the roof edge appears to indicate that an underlayment is in place. Do we bid with the assumption that there is underlayment? ANSWER: Bid appropriately. PPI-017: Section C-3 SCOPE OF WORK, PART 2, Item f. Construction, Subsection I. Install Clay Pan Tile, Item 1b. states "Install new plywood sheathing (15/32" min), ensure surface is level with existing sheathing". This would require at a minimum 2 layers potentially to meet the thickness of the existing wood plank decking. Please clarify how we should proceed. ANSWER: The thickness is a minimum, two layer or 15/32 or 1 layer to match existing is satisfactory. PPI-018: We do not know what the structural framing spacing is under the 1x6 sheathing and it might not adequately support a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. We believe all parties would be better served utilizing a "similar" wood decking that more closely matches the existing wood plank decking. Please clarify how we should proceed. ANSWER: The products will be evaluated as part of the pre-construction submittals. Alternates and deviations from standards are allowed provided the alternate meets or exceeds the original specifications.
