This project will reconstruct a 4-mile trail located in the Pioneer Mountains. The trail is within the newly designated Torrey Mountain Recommended Wilderness. The trail is a single-track non-motorized trail. The trail is rocky. The first 3 miles of the trail are fairly mild with many wet areas in need of structures. The trail then pitches up and then sharply down to the lake. Also included in this contract are the installation of several signs and bulletin boards. Project Location and Directions. Take the Apex Exit off of Interstate 15 approximately 10 miles north of Dillon and head west towards the Pioneer Mountains along Birch Creek Road. Continue on Birch Creek Road for approximately 8-9 miles to the junction with Willow Creek Road. Turn right onto Willow Creek Road and continue driving along this road for 6.5 miles to a junction with a road to the left signed "Primitive Road". This is the Gorge Lake Road. The Trailhead is 1 mile from this junction. Both this road and Willow Creek Road are in poor condition. 4-wheel drive high clearance vehicles are needed to get to the Gorge Lake Trailhead. Most hikers park along the Gorge Lake Road about ½ mile from the trailhead. This high elevation project will most likely see snow in early October, and it may stick around until mid-July. Construction Magnitude is between $25,000 and $100,000 No formal site visit is scheduled. Please contact Technical person for more details. Pre-solicitation already soilcited in November 2014. Full solicitation, specs and drawings are attached to this notice.
