Description
The Contractor shall provide herbicide to clear undesired vegetation from within the boundaries of an approximately 7 km length of maneuver trail averaging 3m wide. Type and brand of herbicide is to be decided after the pre-bid evaluation and presented prior to work execution for approval. The following documents will be presented prior to work execution: MSDS sheets and packaging labels for all herbicide used, ratios of mixed applications. The following documents will be presented immediately upon work completion: total liquid volume of herbicide used. Two applications of herbicide will be provided. The first will be conducted in Spring/Summer 2015, and the second will be conducted in fall of 2015 with a completion date of 15 November. Both applications will encompass all areas listed in the task list. Within the impact area, the vegetation is primarily herbaceous, with the possible presence of small (less than 1' high) wooded vegetation. Herbicide should thoroughly cover foliage, but not to the point of run-off. All foliar treatments should be made after full leaf expansion in the spring. Treat vegetative material growing within 15 feet of the boundaries of the maneuver trails, not to include overhanging vegetation originating from beyond the maneuver trail. The application will provide pre¬ emergent growth control for up to 3 months after application. The terrain may be uneven along unimproved roadways; the Contractor is responsible for providing transportation that can maneuver moderately uneven terrain. Within Hotel Range, targetry areas will be spot treated with the use of hand sprayers on 56 targets. Herbicide should thoroughly cover foliage, but not to the point of run-off. All foliar treatments should be made after full leaf expansion in the spring the application will provide pre-emergent growth control for up to 3 months after application. The terrain may be uneven along unimproved roadways; the Contractor is responsible for providing transportation that can maneuver moderately uneven terrain. Within Training Area 6, Herbicide should thoroughly cover foliage, but not to the point of run¬ off. All foliar treatments should be made after full leaf expansion in the spring. Treat vegetative material growing within 15 feet of the boundaries of the open areas of Landing Zone 18 and the Vehicle Recovery Course. Task 1- Spray and treat to create and maintain a bare ground firebreak along 4.75 Miles along Ridge Road, EOD Road, Pond Road and Harvard Road. The full width of the roads will be treated and will include 15 feet of brush along the edges. The price will include a retreatment of the brush if needed. Task 2 - Spray and treat to create and maintain a bare ground firebreak along 3.38 Miles along Firebreak Road, Shoefelt Road, and the trail that follows behind the ranges on Trainfire Road. The full width of the roads will be treated and will include 15 feet of brush along the edges. The price will include a retreatment of the brush if needed. Task 3 - Herbicide treatment of scrub oak and other brush/weeds along the lower Ridge Road and Delta Range Road and Targets 1.48 Miles and 50' radius around 14 Targets Task 4 - Spray and treat to create and maintain a bare ground firebreak along.73 Miles along Curry Road.73 Miles Task 5 - Herbicide treatment of Common and Northern Blackberry, MultiFlora Rosa and Spotted knapweed along targets in Hotel Range. Each target will be treated by hand to ensure full coverage and reduction of liquid being sprayed into mechanics and electrical boxes. Task 6 - Herbicide treatment of Autumn Olive, Glossy Buckthorn, Multiflora Rosa, Japanese Barberry, Oriental Bittersweet, Spotted Knapweed, Garlic Mustard, and Poison Ivy within 10 acres in Training Area 6 in the Vehicle Recovery Course and on Landing Zone 18. Task 7 - Herbicide treatment of Poison Ivy and Oriental bittersweet along the fence line in Training Area 34.Spot treatments of 1-2 acres of ground covering Poison Ivy within the interior of the training area.
