- PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project consists of the design and construction of a 175' long by 6' wide prefabricated trail (pedestrian and ATV) bridge superstructure and associated substructure elements. The bridge shall have three-spans (30' approach span, 102' main span, 43' approach span). The main span shall consist of a weathering steel Bowstring Truss and the approach spans shall maintain a uniform appearance of the deck and rail system similar to the main span. The bridge abutments shall be 3-4' tall concrete sills founded on native earth embankment and the main span superstructure shall sit on 12-18' tall cast-in-place concrete piers founded on bedrock. Other associated work items include 400' of trail construction for bridge approaches, soil erosion control, clearing, excavation and embankment, crushed aggregate surfacing, 2" HDPE waterline construction, seeding and mulching and other site work that will be described in the solicitation. PROJECT LOCATION From I-5, take exit for Hwy 20 (exit 230). Follow Hwy 20 East for about 24 miles, go north on the Baker Lake Hwy for 15 miles, turn right onto Forest Service Road 1118 and follow for 2 miles to Horseshoe Cove Campground. The bridge site is located on the North end of Horseshoe Cove Campground and crosses an inlet of Baker Lake connecting to Bayview Campground. Access can be gained from the Bayview Campground side as well. CONTRACT TYPE Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) Construction Contract DESIRED START DATE FOR CONSTRUCTION September 8, 2015 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE Two Hundred and Sixty (260) Calendar Days PRE-SOLICITATION MEETING Prior to the formal solicitation being issued on this Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website the Forest Service will hold a pre-solicitation meeting on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 0900 at the Mt. Baker Ranger District Office, 810 State Route 20, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. The meeting will start at 0900 and will be followed by a field visit. Potential prime contractors are encouraged to invite subcontractors (bridge suppliers and crane operators) to this meeting. MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT Between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00 DRAWINGS "DRAFT" drawings will be posted on FBO prior to the pre-solicitation meeting. IMPORTANT NOTICE Rising lake levels may cover / obscure the pier locations by the time the solicitation is advertised in the May-June timeframe, so attendance to the pre-solicitation meeting is highly encouraged.
