- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Steris Corporation, Mentor, OH 44060, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for the annual renewal of comprehensive coverage for Autoclave for the following items with the quantity being 1 each: 1) Annual maintenance, 20" GRV PWR SD STM LABSCI; Serial# 012640111; 2) 20" GRV P3WR SD STM LABSCI, Serial# 011440103; 3) 20x20x38 CENTURY GRAV STR, Serial# 012369801; 4) 84' Century VAC LR R1W P/WEDG ELEC Serial# 010800526; 5) SCI VAC 24x36x60 STG3; Serial# 011159601. The renewal period is June 1, 2015 - May 31, 2016. This maintenance contract includes parts and labor for both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs. Steris has modified two of the machines to stage three control panels. The controller is essentially the brains of the autoclave; it controls all of the functions of the autoclave. Steris is the only manufacturer of these items and is the only source for acquiring parts. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The award is subject to approval of the justification for other than full and open competition. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Steris Corporation. The NAICS Code/Size is 811219/$19.0M. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
