- Description
- What is the total square footage of the buildings in the project (Bldgs. 1, 7, 8, 9, & 10) 1.)Building #1 (including utility plant) = 1,050,194 sq-ft 2.)Building #7 = 80,200 sq-ft 3.)Buildings #8 =1,700 sq-ft 4.)Building #9 = 3,700 sq-ft 5.)Building 10 = 109,000 sq-ft 2.) In B.1 Price/Cost Schedule CLIN 001 it states "The contractor will be required to conduct updated asbestos and lead-based paint surveys..." Just to clarify that the purpose of this survey is to supplement and update the current surveys of Buildings 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10 and that the contractor will be relying on the information contained in the previous asbestos and lead-based paint surveys, any available construction/renovation data, and abatement project data in determining where to sample and the extent of sampling needed in the different buildings so as to develop of comprehensive survey for those buildings. 2) The purpose of the surveys is to conduct comprehensive asbestos and lead surveys. The previous surveys and any documents and information that are available and provided may be used to aid in the conducting the surveys. 3.) Paragraph 4.3.2 of the Performance Work Statement states that any work above the ceiling will require an Above the Ceiling Permit. Other than this permit is there any requirements for the contractor that removes ceiling tiles to inspect and take samples? Is there a limit on the number of ceiling tiles that can be removed at one time? Is there a requirement of any kind of infection control or containment requirements when removing ceiling tiles that the contractor will need to follow during the survey work? 3) As far as removing ceiling tiles for inspections - we request that the work be performed using appropriate methods to minimize raising dust and to immediately replace the ceiling tile displaced. The inspection must be done while patients are not present. The work area must be cleaned upon completion of task. Inspection and sampling must be in accordance with EPA's regulations. Please confirm, Are we to take 200 of lead and 200 of asbestos or only 200 asbestos or only 200 of lead? "200-300 bulk samples must be collected and analyzed by PLM for asbestos content in compliance with guidelines established by the EPA (40 CFR Part 763, Subpart F, Appendix A). Asbestos concentrations will be visually estimated and reported in percent for each layer of the sample." The contractor will be required to conduct updated asbestos and lead-based paint surveys at the Miami VA hospital to include: *Collection and analysis of approximately 200 bulk samples for asbestos in buildings 1, 7, 8, 9, and 10. "Approximately 750-1,000 locations must be sampled and analyzed for lead-based paint For lead based paint (LBP) sampling how it will need to be conducted via XRF or chip sampling. How many rooms are in each building for LBP sampling? I do not know how many rooms are in these buildings. As for the lead-based paint, XRFs should be used for analysis. Paint chip analysis should be done to confirm inconclusive XRF results, for inaccessible areas or building components with irregular (non-flat) surfaces that cannot be tested with XRFs.
