Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District has a need for a Security Fencing Contract to secure Braddock Locks and Dam (L/D) facilities from unauthorized access. In particular, the design is developed to restrict access to the following: 1.Administration building 2.Garage, power transformer, and backup generator 3.Esplanade, gate machinery, and valves 4.Upper and lower guide walls 5.Dam gates, piers, access bridge, and spillway The proposed security fencing is developed per U.S Army Corps of Engineers standard drawing Fence 4. The fencing will be 6-ft high, galvanized-steel chain-link fence with an additional 1-ft barbed-wire apron, for a total height of 7-ft. Fence posts will be installed in asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, gravel or dirt surfaces, and structural concrete. Most fence posts are proposed to be installed in asphalt or concrete surfacing, between 2-in and 6-in thick, which will require saw cutting. Fence posts installed on structural concrete will require post floor stands secured with adhesive anchor bolts. Personnel gates will be installed per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standard drawing Fence 8. Most vehicular gates will be manual, cantilevered slide type except for the main entrance to the esplanade, which will be motor-operated. Magnitude of the project is between $100,000 and $250,000.
