- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded a fixed-price contract on a sole source basis to PerkinElmer Health Sciences, Inc., Shelton, CT for a SciClone NGSx Workstation. This platform is the only one the Government has identified that can be used to produce DNA sequencing libraries for multiple types of next-generation sequencers in CDC laboratories. The SciClone NGSx Workstation is pre-programmed with vetted programming to produced multiple formats of Illumina and Pacific Biosciences libraries. The Government cannot accept scripts that 'can be modified' or the will 'help the Government develop and adjust' after installation. The SciClone NGSx Workstation is be a high-capacity version of the system, able to produce over 400 DNA libraries in a five-day span. The SciClone NGSx Workstation must be enclosed by a physical barrier to prevent contamination of samples. The system maintains continuity of the robotic systems in CDC laboratories, which allows the Government to use the same consumables and accessories (pipet tips, tubes, plastic ware such as 96-well plates). The SciClone NGSx Workstation does not protrude over the edge of the lab bench where it will be placed; therefore, the dimensions of the system's footprint shall have a depth value not to exceed 29'.
