- The US Army Contracting Command - New Jersey is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources in the area of materials processing concerning single crystal growth of tungsten. It is the Government's intention to determine whether there is interest from the industry capability and expertise. The US Army ARDEC is interested in industry submissions for single crystal growth of tungsten which may comprise the adaptation of existing or new crystal growing methodologies. This is not a solicitation, submissions will be for informational purpose. This is a market survey and is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government to issue a RFP. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information in response to this market survey shall be submitted at no cost to the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government will use the information provided for planning purposes only. If a formal RFP is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. The U.S. Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. REQUIREMENT: BACKGROUND AND SUBMISSION FORMAT: All interested firms shall submit their technical capabilities (1-10 pages) for the above to include the following at no cost to the Government. The submission shall include the following information: (a) Name of company (b) A CAGE Code and DUNS Number (c) Company representative title and contact information (d) Company address, telephone numbers (voice and fax), and e-mail address (e) Company size under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 332117 that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to competently and competitively respond to requirements to (f) Short statement regarding your capability to manufacture/supply this item. Responses to sources Sought notice shall be submitted on or before COB on 10 May 2015 via email to the point of contacts below and in accordance with the guidelines stated here. POINT OF CONTACT for this Sources Sought: Roger Tang, Contract Specialist, roger.tang.civ@mail.mil Fakera Nazneen, Contracting Officer, Fakera.Nazneen.CIv@Mail.Mil Technical questions must be addressed in writing to the Point of Contacts below: Requirement & Submission Format: (1) Demonstrate competency in the manufacture of oriented single crystal pure tungsten bars, 1 quote mark in diameter or greater and 12-24 quote mark in length and show a methodology for producing and characterizing their material properties. (2) Show an existing bench-scale or pilot facility that can/has perform(ed) tungsten material processing of which crystal growing is one such capability. (3) Describe the proposed concept to include how it will be used to facilitate the production of single crystal tungsten materials at a sufficiently attractive cost based on a life cycle cost consideration. (4) Provide background information (technical, historical, applicability, etc.). (5) Describe equipment for fabrication of [001] orientation tungsten single crystal, with drawings, photos, process description and anticipated cost per crystal (to include parts, labor and tooling). (6) Identify modifications that would be applied to existing equipment with associated cost, to fabricate 1 quote mark or greater [001] orientation tungsten single crystal. (7) Discuss acceptable risk to user and/or environment and other associated risk areas. (8) Show expertise in this technology area and identify associated proprietary data and / or associated patents. Any drawings and/or initial experimentation results/test data may be included along with your technical capabilities. These submissions will not count towards your technical capabilities page count limitation The technical capabilities shall be submitted electronically COB 10 May 2015 to below listed POCs.
