Description
DESCRIPTION: The John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts herewith issues a Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought for a potential replacement for 25 watt incandescent light bulbs. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THE RFI OR TO OTHERWISE PAY FOR INFORMATION RECEIVED IN RESPONSE TO THE RFI. The information obtained from industries responses to this notice may be used in the development of an acquisition strategy and future RFP. INTRODUCTION: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a national presidential monument and living memorial, presents more than 2,000 performances each year to audiences totaling nearly 2 million. The Center also hosts more than 1 million tourists each year. Sited on 17 acres, the facility includes 1.5 million square feet of usable space, including four major theaters (Eisenhower Theater, Opera House, Concert Hall, and Terrace Theater), several smaller theaters and educational facilities (including the Family Theater, Theater Lab, and the twin Millennium Stages), rehearsal spaces, and meeting rooms, and a 1,971 - space parking garage. The combined capacity of all the theater spaces totals over 7,200 seats. There are two public restaurants, one staff cafeteria, nine special event rooms, and five public halls or galleries. Three of the largest public halls or galleries contain interpretive exhibits, and the Grand Foyer-measuring six hundred feet long and sixty feet high-also contains a large bust of John F. Kennedy. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in total, uses thousands of light bulbs. PURPOSE: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is continuously engaged in seeking more cost efficient, environmentally friendly technological solutions to its operational requirements to aid in the reduction of the public costs of operating and maintaining the monument. One of the goals of this type of action is to address inefficient building systems components. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts currently operates, 365 days a year, in excess of 12,000 25 watt incandescent bulbs. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a technological replacement (Light Emitting Diode (LED), Graphene, or other) for the existing 25 watt incandescent bulb which it uses which shall have the following salient characteristics: "160 or 180 lumens "90+ Color Rendering Index (cri) "Medium Base "Clear "Blunt Tip (not candelabra) "Dimmable to 0% "Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listed "Minimum 25,000 hour life expectancy (Mean Time To Failure (MTTF)) "Ability to reorder same bulb for a minimum of 5 years Interested vendors are requested to provide detailed information including, but not limited to: "Wattage "Availability "Cost per unit "Cost break points "Minimum production run Interested vendors who have products which are similar to but which do not meet all of the required salient characteristics are invited to provide information concerning how closely they meet the required salient characteristics and samples and also the detailed information requested above. Vendors should submit their responses electronically no later than May 8, 2015 to Mr. Hodford Brown, Contracting Officer, hrbrown@kennedy-center.org or Joel Blimline, Purchasing Agent, jwblimline@kennedy-center.org. The response should include the vendors name, address, point of contract (POC), telephone number and e-mail address.
