- Description
- Notice Type: Request for Information The United States Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center, Military Satellite Communications Systems Directorate (SMC/MC) has previously posted a Technical Requirements Document (TRD) for the Terminal Modem LRU as part of the Draft Request for Proposal (DRFP) in the Protected Tactical Service Field Demonstration (PTSFD) Bidder's Library. The Government requests that interested parties comment on the cost and risk impact of adding the following requirements to the Terminal Modem LRU Section 3.3.1.2 (NMT Specific requirements): [LRUdigIF01] (U) The NMT TM LRU shall include a digital IF interface that conforms to Future Advanced SATCOM Technologies (FAST) Open Standard Digital-IF Interface (OSDI) for SATCOM Systems. Note 1[NEW]: A subrange of up to 150MHz will be digitized. The digitized interface must be locatable both before or after dehopping in the receive processing chain, selectable as part of LRU configuration. When occurring prior to dehopping, the subrange will be configurable within the full 1.2 GHz range supported by the modem. When occurring after dehopping, the subrange should match the FL channel width. Digitized signal plus metadata will be exported through the transmit side of the Digital IF interface to a digital co-processing system. Digitized signal plus metadata will be imported on the receive side of the Digital IF interface from a digital co-processing system. Imported data will be forwarded to the rest of the NMT TM LRU receive chain. The purpose of the digital co-processing system is to allow the insertion of external signal processing (e.g., interference cancellation) that may not be collocated with the NMT TM LRU. Note 2[NEW]: Support for the Digital IF interface only exists in the receive path of the NMT TM LRU and not in the transmit path. Hence other methods must be used to connect the analog transmit IF of the TM LRU to upconverters and antennas, such as analog IF-over-fiber equipment. Note 3[NEW]: The NMT TM LRU may be used in conjunction with an external "digital conversion system" device. In this configuration, the front end of the TM LRU will not be used, and only the receive side of the Digital IF interface will carry user data. If the external digital conversion system includes a dehop function (so the Digital IF interface location in the TM LRU is selected to be AFTER dehopping), the transmit side of the Digital IF interface may be used to export TRANSEC control and time synchronization information generated by the TM LRU. [LRUdigIF02] (U) The NMT TM LRU digital IF data shall be available over the interface as complex samples, composed of 16-bit "In-phase" and 16-bit "Quadrature" (I&Q) components, with sampling rates up to 150 Mbps, and an aggregate rate of up to 70% of the maximum Ethernet physical date rate. Note: Aggregate rate means the combination of I+Q samples along with the VRT metadata tags and encapsulation. [LRUdigIF03] (U) The NMT TM LRU digital IF shall utilize in-band signaling for context/metadata that conforms to ANSI VITA-49.0, as defined in section 10, Signal and Data Transport (SDT) Object, of FAST OSDI for SATCOM Systems. [LRUdigIF04] (U) The NMT TM LRU FAST OSDI packets composed of VITA 49.0 (content & context), RTP, and UDP elements shall be nominally at or below 80% of the maximum Ethernet physical data rate. [LRUdigIF05] (U) The NMT TM LRU digital IF interface shall enable remoting the NMT digital co-processing system up to a distance of 300 meters. [LRUdigIF06] (U) The NMT TM LRU digital IF interface shall have interchangeable 10GBASE fiber optic transceivers that support a SFP+ connector. [LRUdigIF07] (U) The NMT TM LRU digital IF interface shall have interchangeable 10GBASE fiber optic transceivers that support at least type 10GBASE-SR. [LRUdigIF08] (U) The NMT TM LRU shall provide the operator the means to enable or disable the digital IF port. Interested parties should be aware that the Government intends to post all non-proprietary responses to the Bidder's Library. Information provided by interested parties will not be treated as proprietary unless specifically identified as proprietary with the appropriate justification included. Interested parties shall submit comments regarding this notice via email to Capt Shane Manuel, shane.manuel.1@us.af.mil, and Mr. Marvin Paquia, marvin.paquia@us.af.mil, no later than 1600 PDT, 20 Apr 2015. This notice is for information and planning purposes only; it does not constitute a Request for Proposal; nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government to award a contract. The Government will not recognize any cost associated with submission of information in response to this or previous notices. The Government will not pay for any effort expended in responding to this notice. Set-aside Status - None
