Description
1. Field telescope with computerized mount: A field telescope with an optical tube assembly of type Schmidt-Cassegrain with an 11-12" mirror is required with a focal length greater than 2600mm. A computerized, German-Equatorial mount is needed for advanced target tracking for collection of spectra and long-exposure photometry and be capable of 90 lbs payloads and have a tracking error of less than 5 arcsec. Onboard computer must be capable of Polar and Two-Star Alignment, have an RS-232 communication port for interfacing with remote computer (PC), Permanant periodic error correction (PPEC), an autoguiding port and electronic pier for long exposure astrophotography. 2. H-alpha Solar Telescope with computerized mount: An ED refractor, with minimum 80mm aperture and maximum f/7, specific to solar observations is required. Specifications include doppler pressure tuning system, feather touch focuser and double stack blocking filter (less than 0.5 Angstrom bandpass). A computerized German-Equatorial mount, with onboard computer, capable of 30 lbs payload is required. Onboard computer must be capable of Polar and Two-Star Alignment, have an RS-232 communication port for interfacing with remote computer (PC), Permanant periodic error correction (PPEC), an autoguiding port and electronic pier for long exposure astrophotography. 3. Imaging APO Telescope with computerized mount: A field telescope with optical assembly of type APO refractor with field flattener and aperture greater than 100mm and maximum f/7 is required. Must include a computerized mount capable of 15 lbs with onboard computer. Mount must be capable of Polar and Two-Star Alignment, have an RS-232 communication port for interfacing with remote computer (PC), Permanant periodic error correction (PPEC), resolution of 0.1 arcsec, an autoguiding port and electronic pier for long exposure astrophotography. 4. Research Grade Astronomy CCD Imager with remote guide head and 8 Filter Wheel (with associated adaptive optics unit): An Astronomy CCD imager with Ethernet/USB2.0 connection, cooling of minimum -55deg delta, interface with Windows OS (32bit and 64bit), full well capacity of minimum 100,000 e-, 16 bit A/D converter, antiblooming, imaging pixel array of minimum 3072 x 2048, pixel size less than 10 microns and capable of connecting to 8 filter wheel. The filter wheel must accept at a minimum, 8x50 mm round filters. The CCD imager must include a remote guide hide that mounts to a separate guide scope and uses an HDMI connector. CCD camera and filter wheel must accept adaptive optics unit. The adaptive optics must be capable of 10 Hz corrections or better and be front mounted to CCD and interface with filter wheel and telescope mount. The adaptive optics must connect to the CCD imager through an associated port. 5. Research Grade UBVRI 50mm diameter filters A set of UBVRI filters is required with the following specifications: AR coating, parallelism better than 30 seconds, thickness of 5mm, flatness of ¼ wave per inch. 6. Research Grade narrowband 50mm diameter filters (Ha, SII, OIII) The following narrowband filters are required. H-alpha (8nm bandwith or less), SII (8nm bandwith or less), and OIII(8nm bandwith or less). Each must meet the following additional specifications: AR coating, parallelism better than 30 seconds, thickness of 5mm, flatness of ¼ wave per inch. 7. Research Grade 50mm diameter filter (clear) This clear filter must meet the following specifications: AR coating, parallelism better than 30 seconds, thickness of 3mm, flatness of ¼ wave per inch. 8. Bahtinov Mask A Bahtinov mask for an 8" Celestron SCT as well as a Bahtinov mask for the field telescope outlined in part 1 are required.
