- Introduction: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan Engineering District (JED) is performing market research for a Design-Bid-Build (DBB) construction project titled: Replace Sasebo Elementary School. This announcement represents a market survey that is intended for preliminary planning purposes only. This purpose of this notice is to identify sources capable of performing this project and to receive responses from those firms to assist the Government's acquisition planning. This survey does not constitute a commitment by the Government for any follow-on announcements, solicitation, or award. This is NOT a solicitation. The Government will not pay for any information provided as a result of this market survey. This market survey is intended for local sources only. Local sources are those sources physically located and licensed to conduct business in Japan. Firms interested and capable of performing this work are highly encouraged to submit a response (submission requirements are located within this notice). Information about the project: Project Title: Replace Sasebo Elementary School Project Location: Commander Fleet Activities, Sasebo, Nagasaki-ken, Japan Project NAICS: 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction Project Magnitude: Between 2,500,000,000 and 10,000,000,000 Japanese YEN Project Description: The purpose of this project is to replace Sasebo Elementary School, by constructing a new, three-story, approximately 61,728 SF elementary school and supporting facilities to serve 250 students. The school will be composed of reinforced concrete and steel with a pile foundation system. The new school will include educational spaces such as but not limited to: - Areas containing learning studies, learning hubs, group learning and one-to-one teaching spaces - Staff planning / collaboration areas and storage - Administration areas - Miscellaneous offices - Guidance counseling center - Special education offices - Professional development center - Health services - Flexible labs - Art and Music rooms - Commons area - Information center - Theater / auditorium - Gymnasium - Food service / kitchen - Recycling center - Janitorial and maintenance support - School supply / storage - Technology service center - Other required areas for a fully functional school Work also includes: - Demolition of existing facilities - Asbestos abatement work - Rerouting of existing base infrastructure - Site improvements - New parking, drop-off and pick-up areas - Loading / unloading area - Playground - Play courts - Play lots - Signage - Fencing - Landscaping - Fire lane / service road - Site security / lighting - Related infrastructure utilities to support the facilities, such as water, sewer, communication, cable television, and electrical - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system - Fire sprinkler and fire alarm / mass notification systems - Plumbing, electrical and lighting systems - Closed circuit TV system - Cable TV system - Intercom / public address system - Clock-bell system - Telephone system - Local area network system Procurement method: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan Engineer District (JED) anticipates the release of an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for this project.
