Description
Social Media Needs Statement Social Media Needs Statement The Department of Defense, Rapid Reaction Technology Office (RRTO) Innovation Outreach Program will conduct a Solutions Meeting at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD on June 1-5, 2015. The Solutions Meeting provides selected innovative companies with an opportunity to make short technical presentations to government representatives about their technologies and products. There is a potential that companies may be selected for pilot projects or experimentation if their technology appears to match the needs described below. The RRTO is looking for innovative technologies and capabilities related to Social Media (data, text, pictures, video, etc.) from both traditional and non-traditional sources (mobile apps, gaming apps, media, Internet of Things, etc.). The Topic Areas below provide examples of desired capabilities/attributes but are not meant to eliminate from consideration other related solutions. Multi-User Open Architecture Data Repository - Multi-user, shared data repository with universal APIs - Data pedigree and provenance support Non-Traditional Data Access - Full range of traditional and non-traditional social media - Mobile apps, gaming data, news media, web forms, etc. Location Data - Non-geotagged sources/datasets - Non-traditional media and gaming apps - GIS standards-based data and tool integration Predictive Analysis - Potential "tipping point" or defining events - Social media campaign impacts - Social media distribution effectiveness Advanced Language Interpretation - Informal language, slang, emoticons, etc. - Cultural nuances, sarcasm, foreign language sentiment, etc. Social Network Analysis - Multiple datasets, sources/inputs - Retrospective and prospective analysis - Social baselines discovery, pattern measurement and anomaly detection - Comprehensive views over multiple sources/platforms Advanced Visualization - Full range of visualization capabilities - Current and emerging visualization methodologies - Interoperable with standards-based tool frameworks, GUIs and APIs Reputation Analysis - Active and reactive reputation management - Reputation error repudiation or mitigation PII Data Processing Tools - Open, proprietary or restricted PII source data - Multiple outputs including anonymized datasets for PII management Companies interested in participating in the Solutions Meeting should submit an application to RRTO Innovation via e-mail to osd.pentagon.ousd-atl.mbx.rrto-innovation@mail.mil. The following information is required in the application (Note: Only 1 application is permitted per company): 1. Email subject line "Social Media Solutions Meeting Application" 2. Company name 3. Website address 4. POC, email, phone number and an alternate POC if desired 5. A succinct description (maximum length of 100 words) of the technology that the company is proposing to present at the Solutions Meeting. (Please note that we are looking for a description of the specific technology and NOT the company's capabilities.) 6. Identify which Topic Areas above your company's technology addresses (some technologies may apply to multiple Topic Areas) All applications must be received on or before 5:00 PM EDT, April 29, 2015. Selected companies are responsible for their travel and all other expenses associated with participation in the Social Media Solutions Meeting.
