Description
Questions / Answers: 1. Are you looking for interior design services to produce a furniture SOW consisting of drawings, layouts, install requirements, an IGE and specification, to then procure furniture with? Or are you expecting pricing for furniture based on this solicitation? We are looking for a design, with recommended furniture types and measurements so that in FY16 we can purchase furniture of the size and type identified in that plan (SOW 4.4, 4.5, and 5.2). Pricing is not required, but a list of potential vendors and a rough order of magnitude of costs based on the requirements to match existing furniture (4.7) is desirable. 2. Are there any drawings of the building/space that will be released prior to the submittal of quotes? Architect's drawings will be made available (4.1), but the rough information on the office sizes and number of spaces is listed in the table (4.6). We can get electronic copies, but I will have to check on the exact formats available -.pdf is probably not the most suitable for this purpose. 3. If you are looking for a furniture quote, then what type of technical capabilities are required for the evaluation of the furniture? The cost of the furniture will greatly be affected by the specification of what is being asked for (wood, painted metal, system panel furniture, etc.) and the finishes use on the furniture (seating example; leather, fabric, plastic) The outcome of this SOW is that we are looking for the design of the offices - i.e., what type, size, and quantity of desks, filing cabinets, bookcases, credenzas, etc. should be in each office, based on current trends in office design and the expected use of the space. We currently have some high-end light-colored (maple/ash) wood veneer furniture that we would like to reuse if possible to reduce the ultimate cost (4.7), assuming that a suitable match can be located. We also already have some systems furniture (cubicles), which should be reused, if possible, but if not, there are only 8 workstations that would fall under this category. We are not asking for an exact quote for purchase price in this SOW, because we will be submitting another SOW in FY16 so that we can purchase furniture of the size and type identified in that plan (4.4, 4.5, and 5.2). The main reason is that the offices will not be ready for occupancy until August 2016 and we expect the prices of the furniture to change in the time between the design in FY15 and the purchase in FY16. This is why we have required that the diagrams and drawings will become property of the government (5.2). Pricing is not required, but a rough order of magnitude based on the requirements to match existing furniture (4.7) is desirable as well as a list of potential vendors that make/sell the furniture that meets the design criteria so we can craft the FY16 purchase SOW. Seating will be included in the design as placeholders, but most likely the purchase recommendations will be on another SOW in FY16 and based on recommendations from Base Safety's office ergonomics expert. 4. What are the interior design technical capabilities that will be evaluated in Factor 1? Will you be requiring the UFC Interior Design Qualifications? In choosing the vendor, the main deciding factors should be past performance (working with the government is a plus) and cost of the design effort. "National Council for Interior Design Qualifications" or "NCIDQ" can be placed in the SOW for rating the vendors that bid. And we intend to use UFC 3-120-10 as a guide for the ultimate design and purchase, so familiarity with and adherence to that is also a plus. I cannot say for sure, but I would imagine that the vendor(s) who bid for the design portion in FY15 would want to be considered for the purchase and install SOW when we do that in FY16.
