- 1.Description of Services The Contractor shall provide 1/8th FTEE Mohs technician services to the Dermatology department at the Providence VA Medical Center, Providence, Rhode Island (hereafter called PVAMC), in accordance with the requirements of the contract. Under the supervision of the Mohs surgeon, the Mohs technician will perform a wide variety of duties related to the processing of histological slides. The technician resolves issues within the scope of authority or refers appropriately. The Mohs technician will provide services every Wednesday from 7:00am-12:00pm. PVAMC will provide notice to the Contractor and Mohs technician in advance of any changes to the clinic coverage schedule. The Contractor's technician shall consistently apply the values of respect, honesty, fairness, and constant pursuit of excellence. The Contractor shall provide customer-friendly, geographically accessible, and high-value technician services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic Mohs surgical unit. The contractor's provider is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Providence VAMC. 2.Technical Duties a.Enter patient and specimen data into the computer. b.Organize and maintain CLIA logs. c.Properly label slides with appropriate patient information. d.May use cryostat with supervision. e.May ink, mark, orient after training. f.Maintain proper levels of staining solutions in the automatic stainer. g.Operate the automatic stainer. h.Manually coverslip processed slides. i.Distribute slides and maps to physicians. j.Appropriate handling and disposing of hazardous and medical waste. k.Proper cleaning and disinfecting of the cryostats and equipment used for Mohs surgery. l.Routine maintenance, including, but not limited to, the oiling and adjusting of the cryostats. m.Comply with all OSHA rules and regulations.
