- The U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge Office (DOE-ORO) intends to contract with Motorola Solutions for an extension of the original Extended Warranty Contract on DOE?s Wide Area Radio System (WARS) equipment, which was awarded in 2003 with an extended warranty for infrastructure repair with advanced replacement. The proposed extension of the Extended Warranty Contract will include the repair costs plus loner modules, and technical/systems support. The WARS system is proprietary to Motorola Solutions, hence technical support and replacement parts can only be provided by Motorola Solutions. The warranty will be for a base period of three months, plus four, three-month options. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit a letter of interest that demonstrates their firm?s ability to provide an equivalent service and rationale as to why they should be considered, as described above. All interested parties must respond by 2:00 PM (EDT), April 27, 2015, to Judy Spillman, U.S. Department of Energy, 200 Administration Rd., PC-912, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Email: Judith.Spillman@Science.doe.gov. No reimbursement for any costs associated with providing the capability information will be provided by DOE. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR Part 13.5. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
