- Description
- The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USMRAA) on behalf of the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) is conducting market research to identify any sources with the capability of providing the high-pressure microphones and preamplifier systems that will fit in the existing test fixtures (GRAS Sound & Vibration Type 45CB Acoustic Text Fixture) currently used by USAARL's Auditory Protection and Performance Division. USAARL is currently utilizing two GRAS Sound & Vibration Type 45CB Acoustic Test Fixtures that were purchased in July 2009. At this time, USAARL is seeking to purchase two high-pressure microphones (up to 193 dB) for current applications which will support the mission of field recording of acoustic impulses represented by explosions, shock tube blasts, and weapons systems. A list of Minimum Essential Characteristics is attached to this posting (follow the Additional Documentation link below) that any high-pressure microphone must meet. At this time, the Government has identified G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration IEC 60318-4 (Item#: RA0045-S9) as the only high pressure microphone that will satisfy the Government's need. This is a combined Sources Sought Notice (SSN) and Request for Information (RFI) only. This SSN/RFI is open to both large and small businesses. The Government is seeking to identify qualified sources under NAICS code 334519 (size standard: 500 employees). Any interested parties should respond to the this SSN/RFI to provide the following information, via email to lisa.m.zarick.civ@mail.mil no later than 11:00 am Eastern Time, Thursday, 23 April 2015. 1.Data or specification sheet that details the high-pressure microphone(s) that meet the requirements detailed in the attachment to this posting (follow the Additional Documentation link below). 2.Contact information of individual responding to this announcement. 3.Company name and CAGE code. All interested firms must be registered in System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for award of Government contracts. All responses received will be reviewed to identify any other high-pressure microphones that can satisfy the Government's need. This is not a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations and no contract will be awarded from this SSN/RFI. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement. No hard copy responses or telephonic questions will be accepted.
