- Description
- All proposals must reflect an understanding and adherence to the SOW. The Cochran Fellowship Program's Asia region is requesting the design and delivery of a training program for six (6) Cochran Fellows from China (5 purchasing managers/buyers and 1 food safety director ) and one (1) USDA Marketing Specialist. The program should educate and introduce major U.S. agricultural products to key players of China's e-commerce. The program should demonstrate the variety of U.S. foods available and inform U.S. food suppliers about how they can provide U.S. high value added products to Chinese customers using e-commerce option. The program should include visits and meetings with U.S. e-commerce companies. In addition to the e-commerce operations, the program should cover the supply chain of agriculture including production, processing, transportation, and sales and marketing. Products of interest include dairy products (mainly fluid milk and milk powder), fresh fruit, meat, seafood, dried fruits and nuts, packaged foods, and wine. There should be meetings with major consolidators, private label manufacturers, and midsized food manufacturers. There is particular interest in the e-commerce companies serving as storfronts for U.S. companies that would like to ship direct to Chinese consumers. Such visits will provide the Fellows an opportunity to observe the quality and safety of U.S. food products from farm to consumer. The program should include visits to the Internet Retailers Conference and Expo (IRCE) on June 2-5, 2015 in Chicago, IL and the Food Marketing Institute Expo on June 8-11, 2015 in Chicago, IL. The goal of the program is to increase exports of U.S. food products to China.
