TRICARE Health Care Programs, including the benefit structure and required administrative functions, are codified at Chapter 55 of Title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.), and Title 32, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 199. The Department of Defense (DoD) is responsible for administration of medical, dental, and pharmacy programs that provide health care to active duty, active duty family members, and retired military members and their families, as well as family member survivors. In order to fulfill this responsibility, DoD provides health care directly through military treatment facilities reimburses for the care furnished by private sector health care providers. This acquisition is to purchase health care support services and for the integration of that private sector care with the DoD direct care system. The total eligible non-overseas population in the United States is approximately 9.2 million beneficiaries.
