- Description
- Questions from Industry and Answers: The John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts issued a Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought for a potential replacement for 25 watt incandescent light bulbs. Various vendors have asked questions/raised issues which are addressed as follows: 1. Does the bid require ARRA compliance? Answer: No. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) does not apply. 2. Can you supply a photo of the current lamp? (POSSIBLE? TOP VIEW, SIDE VIEW, BOTTOM VIEW. Or is this even necessary? Answer: The replacement lamps do not have to resemble the current lamp. The only size restriction is length. A flame tip candelabra with a small to medium base conversion socket is too long. A straight medium base (with no conversion socket) with a blunt tip is short enough. 3. What kelvin color? Answer: 2400K. 4. Would a bulb that is dimmable to 1% be acceptable? Answer: No. The material requirement is that the bulb must be dimmable to 0%. 5. Issues: A) 160 - 180 lumens = very low wattage = 2 - 3 watts (COMMENT?) Answer: This best represents the reduction in energy consumption from a 25 watt incandescent bulb that is desired. B) 90+ Color Rendering Index (CRI) = very high (COMMENT) Answer: Requirement is to achieve as close to 90 CRI as possible. C) Ability to reorder same bulb for a minimum of 5 years = difficult to predict changes in manufacturing. (COMMENT?) Answer: The Kennedy Center will accept bulbs which are technically equal to or better than that initially provided over time given that the bulb would remain dimmable to 0% and the kelvin color would remain the same.
