Description
The Subcontractor shall provide a complete 40mm propellant launcher capable of launching a 150 gm projectile up to 2Km/s with a tilt of less than 4 mrad. The launcher will include: Breech Launch Tube Floor mounting with recoil suppressor Two part tank assembly with diagnostics and catch tank mounted on casters for easy maintenance Remote firing system with interlock capability Evacuation system capable of reducing pressure in tank assembly and launch tube to less than 100mTorr, including valves, connecting plumbing, controls, and pressure transducer with readout for monitoring of vacuum levels Active ventilation system to reduce system pressure post experiment. Exhaust should be compatible with NSTec provided filter. This filter will be selected with collaboration with Subcontractor and Contractor SME. Welding certification from independent inspection company for all welds for the catch tank. Full prints, system diagrams, and operating procedures. Pressure safety calculations for evacuation and ventilation system. Design calculations and analysis to demonstrate the launcher complies with ASME Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII section 3 code case 2564, including; Static and dynamic loading conditions Finite element model Impulse loading assessment fracture mechanics assessment Delivery to NSTec laboratory in Santa Barbara CA, assembly, operational checkout, and training of NSTec personnel.
