Description
The General Services Administration (GSA) announces an opportunity for Construction Repair of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Atlanta Customer Service Center Parking Deck in Chamblee, GA. The award will be restricted to all Small Business Categories. The Contractor for this project will be competitively chosen from proposals using the Lowest Priced Technically Acceptable (FAR 15.101.2) Source Selection Process. This is just a notice of invite. Please do not respond to this notice. A solicitation will be posted on May 15, 2015 requesting proposals. Estimated Project duration: 90 Calendar Days All Required documents and specifications will be provided by GSA. Estimated Project Cost: $5 Million to $10 Million PROJECT SUMMARY: The project located at 2385 Chamblee Tucker Road Chamblee, GA 30341 was constructed in 1998. The structure is a three (3) level, (Slab on grade with two elevated post tension slabs) that are cast in place. The elevated slabs are supported by cast in place concrete columns with drop panels. The elevated slabs consist of a combination of mild reinforcing and post tension tendons. The total square footage is approximately 259,000 square feet with a footprint of approximately 358 feet x 242 feet. The structure has standing water issues that are a result of elevated slabs with excessive deflection and serviceability issues. The elevated slabs no longer match up with drain locations therefore the water will not drain. Initial analysis and examination indicated that the parking deck suffers from strength and serviceability issues. A 2011 Destructive Testing and Analysis report dated 05DEC2011 revealed the following issues: Elevated slab deflections excessive in relation to accepted standards Cracking & Spalling on the top and bottom of elevated slabs Post-tension cables & anchors exposed to weather Elevated slabs do not slope towards intended low drain points Water ponding and seeping through cracks of the slab have eroded reinforcing and post tension tendons Structure needs Steel Frame structure and new foundations Extensive details can found in the Statement of Work (SOW) dated 04/01/2015 which will be provided in the solicitation All Construction repair work must comply with Local, State and Federal Government Codes and Standards. The GSA will furnish all design documents and other specifications items as needed.
