- Wage Determination Aspen Fire Plan Soaproot Fire Plan Aspen Piling Map Soaproot Map Statement of Work The purpose of this contract is to reduce fuels, release conifers from brush competition, and to prepare sites for tree planting within the Aspen wildfire area and on the Soaproot project, by mechanically clearing and piling slash, vegetation, and other debris. Prior to this treatment the areas within the Aspen fire will have been harvested, removing the dead and dying material of commercial size. In addition, if needed, small trees will be thinned, if alive, or just felled if all dead. Within the Soaproot project most units have also been harvested (a thinning prescription) and where necessary the pre-commercial sized trees thinned. The result will be trees remaining on the site that are spaced out (the spacing is variable but roughly between 16 and 20 feet). It will be necessary to work around these crop trees. Also there are several units in the soaproot project that are brush fields. Work on this project shall be done in a manner that does not damage residual trees or vegetation not specified to be treated. Work is to be performed on the High Sierra Ranger District.
