Description
Solicitation Number: P15PS01229 Vehicle modifications to convert a new F-550, purchased through GSA, to fit large tires to be run at low pressure in the winter. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THERE WILL NOT BE A SOLICITATION AVAILABLE FROM THIS NOTICE. This notice is published as a Sources Sought Announcement to ascertain the level of interest of capable contractors with the expertise to modify the suspension, a locking differential on the front axle, procuring and installing a flatbed and topper, body modifications, procuring and installing tires and custom wheels as specified by the National Park Service. THIS REQUIREMENT INCLUDES DESCRIPTION OF THE SUPPLIES OR SERVICES REQUIRED TO MEET THE AGENCY NEEDS: Government-furnished Vehicle The National Park Service will be procuring a Ford F-550 chassis cab. It will be a 4-wheel-drive, 6.7-L diesel with a block heater and dually rear axle. The rear axle will have leaf spring suspension a limited-slip differential. The front axle will have spring coil suspension. This will be provided to the contractor. Contractor Scope of Work: Vehicle Modifications All materials for modifications to the vehicle will be purchased and installed by the contractor. The only material furnished by the government is the original chassis cab vehicle. The contractor shall procure and install a flatbed and appropriate topper on the vehicle. The flatbed should be the Bradford Built aluminum workbed (http://www.bradfordbuilt.com/aluminum-workbed.htm) or equal. The topper should be the UteTop (http://www.uteltd.com/pg-bed/16-ute-top.html) or similar. The contractor will install a suspension lift kit and do any body modifications to fit up to 50 inch diameter tires. Leaf springs will be added to the front axle. A locking differential will be installed on the front axle. The front axle will be moved forward between 1.5 inch and 2 inch if necessary to fit the tires. The contractor will get tires approximately 46 inch in diameter by 24 inch wide front and 46 inch in diameter by x 28 inch wide rear tires as specified by NPS. Custom wheels shall be ordered and installed to fit these tires. THIS SOURCES SOUGHT is a market research tool used to determine availability of potential businesses capable and with the specific experience required prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of award. It is requested that all interested companies submit to this office a brief capabilities statement demonstrating your company ¿s ability to perform the requested services.
