Description
a. Scope of Work. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, transportation, equipment, materials, supplies, and supervision to perform all cleaning operations in connection with removing all grease, lint, dirt, and other combustible materials in the exhaust systems in the specified buildings. The method of cleaning is to be determined by the Contractor. (1) This is a fire hazard reduction function, and the Contractor shall work in strict accordance with the standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code 96, and the National Safety Council. All work performed under this contract will be accomplished in occupied areas. The Contractor and building occupants, where the work will be performed, will coordinate the work, whereby, both the Government and the Contractor may continue operations with as little interruption and inconvenience as possible during the cleaning and treating of the grease and vapor exhaust systems. Some buildings will require work to be accomplished after normal working hours. This will be coordinated between contractor, COR and the building manager. (2) The Contractor shall work in strict accordance with the codes of the National Board of Fire Underwriters. While working on installed mechanical equipment contractor shall use drop cloths, shields, and other protective devices to prevent any damage to equipment or to areas adjacent to units being cleaned, and will move all movable furniture, fixtures, and/or equipment that may interfere with the work subject. The Contractor shall re-position the same items stipulated above, upon completion of work in each area, and shall clean the area in which work was performed. All bracing, rafters and adjacent structural members, and equipment will be kept clean and cleaned after operations are completed. The Contractor shall thoroughly inspect all attic and roof areas for grease and other combustible or inflammable contamination caused by leakage or seepage from the duct work plenums, fan housings or fans. Where such contamination is found, the Contractor shall thoroughly remove the same.
