- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI): 1. OBJECTIVE: To provide essential equipment for continuous monitoring of intracranial pressure as well as blood pressure for projects in Brain Trauma Neuroprotection and Neurorestoration (BTNN). 2. INTRODUCTION: The Department of Brain Trauma Neuroprotection and Neurorestoration (BTNN), Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience, will be conducting studies investigating intracranial pressure and blood pressure following polytrauma associated with penetrating ballistic-like brain injury (PBBI) in rodent models. 3. BACKGROUND: The BTNN group, Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience, will be conducting studies aimed at evaluating intracranial pressure and blood pressure in a rat model of polytrauma associated with penetrating ballistic-like brain injury (PBBI). Telemetry system will allow blood pressure assessments. 4. SCOPE OF WORK: Description of services: Contractor will supply and install the equipment in BTNN, train staff for use, and provide troubleshooting and maintenance. Minimum Essential Characteristics The Telemetry System MUST: 1.Telemeters must be implanted in the rat's abdomen while the leads are placed in areas of interests to monitor the signals. 2.The telemeters must be rechargeable while implanted in the animals and have a battery life of 4-6 hours with a ~4 hours recharge. 3.The telemeters must be able to transmit a signal from the receiver within 5 meters (~16.4 feet) radius distance while implanted in the animal. 4.The receiver must be able to receive the signal from the telemeter and recharge the telemeter battery. 5.The receiver must output a 0-4 Voltage analog signal via Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connector that connects directly to the existing PowerLab data acquisition system. 6.The receiver must accommodate the cage for housing the telemeterized animals such that the cage could be placed on top of their corresponding receiver. 7.A configurator must be used for initial system setup and diagnostics. 8.The configurator must have at least 32 channels with different digital frequencies to eliminate crosstalk between telemeters. 9.Data Acquisition System (DAQ) must be able to be connected to the PowerLab DAQ+ LabChart Pro analysis system. 10.The telemetry system must have the following additional features: a. Inductive battery charging b. No refurbishment needed c. Open access DAQ d. High fidelity signal with no motion artifact 5. Deliverables: Contractor will supply and install the equipment in BTNN and ensure that instrument is functional. Contractor will train staff in its use and provide user manual. 6. PLACE OF AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: At WRAIR i.e., contractor will come to WRAIR to install equipment and train personnel. The period of performance will be one year beginning at install date. Interested vendors must contact Sharew Hailu via email at Sharew.Hailu.civ@mail.mil
