- Redacted JEFO The purpose of this acquisition is to design and install a virtual reality environment at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense, Chemical Casualty Care Division (MRICD/CCCD). This system is called the Wide Area Virtual Environmental (WAVElet). The WAVElet system will allow MRICD/CCCD to blend virtual reality with actors, human patient simulators, and part task trainers to provide a high level of realism for individual and team training for varying levels of learners. less than br greater than less than br greater than MRCID previously purchased 3 screens from Mechdyne Corporation under HU0001-10-D-0003-B307 (signed on 26 September 2014) and USAMRICD now requires two additional screens to complete the system. All 5 screens will be synchronized so that they present a consistent view of the virtual space. At the time of the original Delivery Order, USAMRICD was not aware they would need the additional 2 screens. As a result, the additional quantities are outside of scope of the original requirement since it increased the contract value by almost 50% and also the quantity by 66%. USAMRICD requires a follow-on Delivery Order to be placed for the additional screens so they can complete their envisioned system. The authority cited in the attached Justification for an Exception to Fair Opportunity is 16.505(b)(2)(i)(c).
