- This is a SOURCE SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for market research purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking vendors capable of providing an infrared (IR) camera with the following performance specifications: • The IR camera must be capable of measuring temperature profiles of plastic filaments 20 °C to 600 °C; • The IR camera must have an InSb detector with a resolution of at least 640 pixels by 512 pixels and interchangeable optical components that create a working distance of 1.5 inches or longer with per pixel resolution of 30 μm/pixel and a field of view of at least 2 cm2; • The IR camera must communicate directly with a computer through gigabit Ethernet or USB 3.0 and have analog video output; • The IR camera must have a ¼-20 mounting hole and operate in any orientation; • The IR camera must accept FLIR A series lenses and extension rings. The software for the IR camera must have all basic image capture and analysis features such as stills, sequences (movies), region of interest (line, rectangle, circle, point), time, temp plotting from region of interest, etc. After the results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two small businesses are identified during this market research, then a competitive procurement that results may be conducted as a small business set-aside. The following information is required to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Documentation/Description of capabilities, which clearly demonstrates the capability of providing an IR camera with the aforementioned specifications; 2. Documentation of any relevant experience in manufacturing and/or providing IR cameras; 3. Name and business size of the company; 4. Manufacturer of equipment; 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above, which the Government should consider in finalizing its market research. All information considered pertinent to the covered requirement must be sent to Adam C. Powell, Contract Specialist, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Office of Acquisition and Agreements Management / Acquisition Management Division, 100 Bureau Drive, Mail Stop 1640, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-1640. Information submitted must be specific and address the aforementioned requirement. Submissions must be received not later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 22, 2015. Original and e-mail submissions are acceptable. Vendors shall identify their business size in accordance with North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The small business size standard is 500 employees.
