Description
Air Force Space Command Innovation Summit Announcement - Space and Cyberspace Superiority 2030 Synopsis: Air Force Space Command's (AFSPC) Chief Scientist will begin an Innovation Summit this summer, consisting of a short series of technology interchanges focused on long range science and technology (S&T) for advancing space and cyberspace superiority. We define long range as three Future Year Defense Programs (FYDPs) from now, or 10-30 years from now. These meetings seek participants (namely the S&T experts) from academia, research organizations, and industry and will consist of two phases. Phase One will be a two-day event, held 8-9 July 2015 at the SCITOR facility in Colorado Springs CO, with a space-focused day on the 8th and cyberspace-focused day on the 9th. Each day will include a classified portion, to better inform you of the AFSPC vision unencumbered. The objective of this two day event will be for the AFSPC Chief Scientist to layout, define, and generate thought-provoking innovations intended to help us meet and exceed our nation's Space and Cyberspace Long-Term S&T challenges. The goal is to challenge participants to search within and beyond their organizations' innovative ideas, emerging technologies and creative approaches to sustain superiority in both Space and Cyberspace domains. Our hope is that Industrial and commercial sector visionaries go beyond boundaries and constraints and make assumptions on how today's challenges can be transformed several FYDPs from now and how we can develop and maintain our warfighting edge for years to come. Phase Two will be the presentation of ideas from across industry, academia, and research organizations on their response to the government's challenges for the long range. This phase is expected to occur in early September 2015, again at the SCITOR facility. More details will follow on this front, so please stay tuned for updates on this series of events. Subsequent updates will be announced using the Defense Innovation Marketplace site at http://www.defenseinnovationmarketplace.mil/space.html designed and maturing each day as a central repository of government-Industry data exchanges that has proven security protocols for those data exchanges. We will provide participants with an entire suite of data points on rules of engagement, logistics, security requirements, engagement expectations, feedback, and the way forward after the event. Seating is limited, it is therefore of critical importance to note, pre-registration is required to ensure access to the SCITOR facility. Participation is limited to two (2) people per organization, per day unless otherwise requested or coordinated. To register, please contact Lt Col Don Rhymer (719-554-3135, donald.rhymer@us.af.mil) in the AFSPC Chief Scientist's office no later than 24 June 2015, with your intent and commitment to participate. Dress for the event is business casual or for military, Uniform of the Day (UOD). For those that cannot attend Phase One, slides will be posted following the event at a location accessible to most. Additionally, we will update this FBO and/or the Defense Innovation Marketplace announcement in June with additional details to include SCITOR access and agenda and Phase 2 details as they are developed. If you have any questions, please direct them to Lt Col Don Rhymer. Disclaimer This AFSPC announcement does not constitute a formal solicitation or request and does not obligate the Government in any way. Responses and attendance at either phase of the Innovation Summit and any discussion/release of information is strictly voluntary as an expression of interest and will not impact future acquisitions. The Government reserves the right to cancel this event at any time. The Government will not be responsible for any associated costs as a result of prospective offeror's interest and/or response to this notice.
