Description
SOW Consulting for Tanzania Feed the Future (FTF), the United States' global hunger and food security initiative, renews the U.S. Government's commitment to invest in sustainably reducing hunger and poverty. The initiative works with host government, civil society and private sector partners to address the needs of smallholder farmers and agribusinesses, emphasizing the empowerment of women; strengthen the enabling environment for strong agricultural markets; promote research and innovation for agricultural development; and increase our investments in nutrition, while maintaining our support for humanitarian food assistance. Tanzania has been designated a priority country for the FTF Initiative. Housed within the Economic Growth (EG) Office, FTF Tanzania's goal is to reduce poverty and increase agricultural sector growth in the target regions, represented by the Zone of Influence (ZOI). A Multi-Year Strategy (MYS), 2010- 2015, for the FTF Initiative in Tanzania stipulates a number of development interventions. This five-year plan aims to increase food security in households by increasing productivity, trade, and household income while reducing malnutrition. FTF Tanzania is in the process of designing a new follow-on agriculture policy activity, a land tenure activity and a new private sector enabling environment activity. As such, the EG Office is seeking a seasoned consultant to provide key assistance in the design of these activities and the completion of requisite USAID pre-award documentation. This Scope of Work (SOW) involves working closely with the design teams for the three new activities to contribute to the development of SOWs or program descriptions for the activities, and completing the requisite documentation for the solicitation of the new awards.
