- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing solicitation for a construction contract for the replacement of HVAC equipment at the Child Development Center (CDC) at the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) located in Hanover, NH. The NAICS code for this procurement is 236220. The estimated construction cost is expected to range from $500,000 to $1,000,000. General Description of the Work to be Performed The work for this project involves improvements to the Child Development Center (CDC) on the CRREL facility and the improvements are intended to provide increased thermal comfort to the building occupants. Specific work for this project involves removing and replacing an air handling unit (AHU-1) condensing units, and replacing the Variable Air Volume (VAV) terminal units and duct work in the CDC. In addition to replacing the existing air handling unit, new duct work will be installed and subsequent balancing of the air system will be performed. The scope of work will include the demolition, removal, and disposal of the existing air handler and associated duct work and insulation. Necessary electrical work will also be completed. Optional work may include duct and VAV insulation. If this option is exercised, the contractor will insulate all duct work (supply and return) and VAVs in the attic space and mechanical room with a foil faced fiberglass batt insulation to a value of R-11. Additional optional work may require the contractor to conduct air sealing in the attic space of the CDC of all penetrations to the conditioned space below including around the perimeter rim. Under this option, the contractor shall add a vapor barrier below, and blown in open cell cellulose above, the fiberglass batt insulation to achieve a thermal resistance value of R-49. This option shall include adding soffit air vent baffles and blocking. The contractor shall provide for architectural, structural, and electrical modifications to the building as necessary to perform the work and patch and repair all roof, wall, and ceiling surfaces/structures affected by the work of this project. This is not a request for proposals at this time. The solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date will be available on or about July 10th, 2015. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation, offerors must access the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the New England District. Additional questions may be emailed to the Contract Specialist at kimberly.b.pumyea@usace.army.mil
