Description
This is a SOURCE SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for market research purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information on vendors capable of providing a single-frequency continuous-wave ultraviolet laser system for mercury spectroscopy with the following performance specifications: 1. CW single-frequency laser with tunable emission between 253.665 nm and 253.680 nm; 2. Output power of at least 20 mW; 3. Mode-hop-free fine tuning range of at least 30 GHz; 4. Intrinsic laser linewidth < 1 MHz; 5. Fiber-coupled output port for seed light in visible region; 6. Residual amplitude noise < 0.3%; 7. Piezoelectric transducer bandwidth > 10 kHz; The laser system must be fully integrated with the following components: 1. Master laser and controller; 2. High-bandwidth piezo-transducer for scanning; 3. Mode-matching and frequency-locked frequency doubling optics; 4. Optical isolation devices. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two small businesses are identified during this market research, then a competitive procurement that results may be conducted as a small business set-aside. The following information is required to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Documentation/Description of capabilities, which clearly demonstrates the capability of providing a single-frequency continuous-wave ultraviolet laser system with the aforementioned specifications; 2. Documentation of any relevant experience in providing and manufacturing single-frequency continuous-wave ultraviolet laser systems; 3. Name and business size of the company; 4. DUNS number of company; 5. Manufacturer of equipment; 6. Any other relevant information that is not listed above, which the Government should consider in finalizing its market research. All information considered pertinent to the covered requirement must be sent to adam.powell@nist.gov - Adam C. Powell, Contract Specialist, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Office of Acquisition and Agreements Management / Acquisition Management Division, 100 Bureau Drive, Mail Stop 1640, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-1640. Information submitted must be specific and address the aforementioned requirement. Submissions must be received not later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 25, 2015. Original and e-mail submissions are acceptable. Vendors shall identify their business size in accordance with North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The small business size standard is 500 employees.
