Description
The Department of the Interior (DOI), Interior Business Center (IBC), on behalf of the U.S. Access Board, is seeking from industry information regarding the most up to date Section 508 compliant features for copiers/Multi-Function Devices (MFD's) in order to improve the accessibility of such machines for persons with disabilities. The Federal Government has a statutory obligation to meet the objectives of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 by ensuring that persons with disabilities have equal access to and use of equipment and technology that is comparable to the access and use by persons who are not individuals with disabilities. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes, in order to help IBC better understand the range of advanced products, technologies, and resources available in the private sector. This does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP). However, the information gathered by IBC may be used to prepare for upcoming MFD requirements, which may lead to the issuance of one or more RFQ's/RFP's at a later date. Responses to this RFI will not negatively affect a potential respondent's ability to respond to any RFQ/RFP that might follow. Please ensure that any sensitive or protected information is marked as such, and the government will ensure this information is not released. Because technology is continually evolving, and the U.S. Access Board is committed to evolving with it, the purpose of this RFI is to engage industry to capture solutions and improve Section 508 compliance for MFD's. The ultimate goal is to improve the accessibility of persons with disabilities, customer satisfaction, and worker productivity; while decreasing the time and effort needed to comply with Federal regulations. The government requests that responses to this RFI include answers to the following questions: 1) What Section 508 compliant features are currently available for Multi-Function Devices? Please include both standard and optional features. 2) If a MFD was purchased/leased from your company today, what can be done to keep the machine up to date if a new Section 508 requirement or feature were to be released in the future? 3) Is your company a GSA schedule holder? If so, under what schedule? Are all products listed under question one available under your company's current GSA contract? 4) Is your company a NASA SEWP (V) contract holder? 5) How does Section 508 compliance affect cost? 6) How does Section 508 compliance effect lead times? 7) Does your company have a GPAT/VPAT template for your products? 8) What can the Government do to improve solicitations requiring Section 508 compliance? 9) Does your company have special designations (ie, HUBZone, 8a, Minority Owned, Woman Owned, SDVOSB)? Please respond by email directly to the Contract Specialist, Brian Workman, at brian_workman@ibc.doi.gov, by COB July 17, 2015.
