- The USDA, APHIS, National wildlife Research Center in Fort Collins, CO intends to award a one-time purchase order, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(c), with Life Technologies Corporation for two (2) new Applied Biosystem capillary electrophoresis sequencing and fragment analysis instruments with varying throughput capabilities. One is for low throughput (8 capillary) and the other is a moderate throughput (24 capillary) instrument. Both instruments are required as they serve different purposes in the lab (one is used for method development and optimization and the other is used for processing samples). These instruments are the core instrumentation of the Wildlife Genetics Lab, without them we could not conduct our service component or our research. Life Technologies is the only company that provides Applied Biosystem capillary electrophoresis sanger sequencing and fragment analyzers instrumentation that comes with an analytical software that is also the industry gold standard and allows rapid processing of raw data for downstream statistical analyses. A purchase order valued at $271,800.00 is anticipated with Life Technologies Corporation. Instruments unique features: • # of capillaries: 8(3500), 24(3500xL) • # of dyes: 36 (3500), 50(3500xL) • Polymertype: POP-4 TM, POP-6 TM, POP-7 TM • 2 sample plates (96- or 384-well) • 24 hours hands-free automation • Powerful, integrated data collection and primary analysis software provides real-time assessment of data quality • Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology tracks key consumables data and records administrative information • Maintain temperatures from 18 to 70 degrees C • Detect an analyze six fluorescent dyes simultaneously for DNA fragment analysis This is not a request for quote, and no formal solicitation will be issued. This notice is for informational purposes only. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Specialist listed below. Anyone interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can provide an equivalent multichannel pipette calibration system in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost.
