- Description
- J&A for ExCIS The U.S. Army Operational Test Command (USAOTC) Extensible Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence Instrumentation System (ExCIS) Hardware and Software Maintenance and Development/Upgrade contract has been used to provide continuous maintenance and development of the ExCIS Fire Support Application (FSA). The ExCIS FSA is required for the design, engineering development, and integration of current and future Army simulations and other test evaluation technologies via Advanced Test and Evaluation (T&E) Enterprise Architecture (ATEA), an open architecture and standards-based systems engineering process established in 2014 to promote improved interoperability and re-use of T&E technologies. This effort primarily consists of the continuing development and upgrade of the ExCIS FSA capabilities for test planning, test driver, simulation-stimulation, data collection, and data reduction. The contract supports current and future U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) field artillery (FA) and fire support (FS) systems using the legacy Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (FATDS) and Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) devices and operational facilities (OPFACs) from forward observer to corps FA sections. Specific outcomes from this support include software and hardware updates/revisions, reports, studies, white papers, briefings, software training, analysis and development of software test plans, and configuration management plans. There are four critical components to the software/hardware requirement in support of operational testing: (1) simulation, (2) stimulation, (3) data collection and (4) data reduction. The software/hardware must be able to support simulation as well as stimulation of field artillery and fire support systems using the FATDS and AFATDS devices. This system must also be able to integrate with the USAOTC Advanced Test and Evaluation (T & E) Enterprise Architecture (ATEA) in support of the FATDS and AFATDS systems.
